Good questions.
1) "What will get you into whatever college you want"?
Most colleges accept a score of 50 as passing. So as long as you get a 50 or more you should have no problem getting your college to accept. Of course, some colleges choose to make their own standards, so better check with them. By the way, it's not a 50 PERCENT that's passing. It's a score of 50 (which is far different than a percentage). However, many cleppers I've talked to have found that many times getting half the questions right will land you barely passing.
2) "Do you need to get around an 80 to have done really really well"
No no not at all. Not even almost. First, Remember that passing means a 4.0 GPA. As long as you pass, no matter what score you get, your GPA stays at 4.0. Cleps are real hard truthfully, so passing means a Lot. A veteran clepper once told me (and I have to think I'd agree), that it's harder to get a "C" with Clep than an "A" with conventional school. Of course, they're not graded that way, but it's just an illustration of how tough Cleps can be.
So what is really good though?? Well I've taken a LOT of clep tests. I have family that has taken much of the cleps that exist. I have many friends who clep. And I have never, never ever met someone who got an 80. It just doesn't really happen - I mean it might SOMETIME, SOMEWHERE, but it's not just something that happens. A score in the 70's is phenomenal. But again, score doesn't matter at all.
