As of 2005, there were 4140 colleges and universities in the United States. Of those schools, over 2900 accept College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit. Keep in mind that while the college board suggests a passing score of 50 (using a scale of 20 - 80) which would represent a "C", it is up to each school to decide that actual requirements regarding the passing rate, how the scoring translates into a letter grade and the number of units credited for each test subject.
