CLEP Students Outperform Others in GPA
CLEP Test Review recently uncovered research College Board has published showing that CLEP students are actually doing better in college than students not using CLEP. The study’s results are suggesting that students who receive credit by examination whether it is through CLEP or AP generally have higher GPAs than students who complete the equivalent course through traditional course enrollment. Not only did students have better GPA’s, students also did better in nearly all cases measured, including graduation rate, number of additional courses taken in the same subject area credit was given and performance in those additional courses.
This research flies in the face of some critics of CLEP. Some outspoken university faculty have claimed that the rigors of college course work are not equivalent to the credit earned through examination and that performance will suffer in higher division course work of the same subject. Other members of the education community have claimed CLEP provides an unacceptably easy pathway for college students to gain credit for a class they have little knowledge about.
These claims have almost certainly been refuted. While College Board acknowledges there needs to be further studies, their research now indicates students taking CLEP examinations are scoring higher than students taking these introductory courses at their college. For example, in recent years, CLEP students taking American Government had an overall mean GPA of 3.55 while a closely matched sample of students earning credit through traditional course enrollment had mean GPA of 3.2. Calculus CLEP students had a mean GPA of 3.39 while their CLEP match had 3.24. Psychology CLEP students had a mean GPA of 3.66 while their CLEP match had only 3.10. The examples go on and on.
College Board also highlights other findings, for example noting that the “University of Texas at Austin, Appenzellar and Kelley (1983) found a high correlation (.66) between preliminary grades in calculus (obtained from the course professors prior to administration of the exam) and CLEP score on the Calculus with Elementary Functions examination”. There were many other mentions of other research showing high correlations between preliminary grades and CLEP exam scores.
Also interesting to note, these findings counter the position of those who “find AP acceptable as a means of credit by examination and yet object to CLEP.” As CLEP grows, we will certainly get more insight into this as this research is replicated and its findings are published.

Interesting Study...
When reading a study like this, it just makes you wonder why more people don't try taking some CLEPs. I took lots of CLEP tests, and ended up with a 3.85 GPA. I encourage students to try to take as many CLEP tests as they can at their college.
the only study material for
the only study material for the humanities was the real brief review book, and i search a lot on the internet for the humanities resources and chanced to find this site.

I just like to say I thank Rob for being as honest as he is, don't where exactly you were raised. But your honesty shines through. God is faithful to those who seek him truely in every aspect of our life. He's awesome. Thanks for your encouragement and suggestions, I will use them wisely. I trying my best to see how many credits I can earn through the clep test.
God Bless You,
Lorena
re: clep
Hey Lorena thanks for the kind comment! You're right - our God IS awesome!! God bless you and good luck on your cleps!! My brother and I combined have taken most of Clep's test line-up, so if you have any questions re: any test don't hesitate to ask - if we've taken it we'll tell you what we know and give any recommendations we have. ;-)
Blessings,
-Rob
Great Job
Hats off to these CLEP students. They have showed that CLEP had been really instrumental in helping them to get greater GPA's. The conventional students should not lose heart or turn to notorious acts such as fake degrees but should work even harder to increase their GPA's.
Humanities CLEP
Just took the humanities CLEP.
I was able to pass because of a life-long interest in Art and Literature, but I doubt the average student would pass on basic general knowledge. The test is long, detailed, and tough.
I have no hard feelings towards this company, they just missed the mark with this particular test prep.
I had a different experience
I'm not sure where 'markt' is coming from. Unlike him, I have had a life completely void of all interest in Art and Literature - knew nothing, nada, zilch about it. Unlike him, I did not study for months, I used this site to study for only around 2 weeks. I've never had any interest in humanities, and never will. Yet using this site primarily as my main study guide, I passed easily. The only book I studied was the tiny 77 page comex guide. 'markt' says the test is "long, detailed, and tough." As far as long goes, it's the same length as every other Clep. Detailed? I just took the test and wouldn't say particularly detailed: this site seems to go into more detail than the test does. Tough? I've taken a lot of Cleps, and this has been one of the easiest, and remember I'm saying that with close to zero subject background.
Recommendation: I probably would NOT have passed WITHOUT this site. I don't know how much 'markt' studied the quizzes, but if you want to pass here's all you need to do (it's what worked for me). Take each humanities quiz until you get a 90 percent or higher. Get the very small, very easy reading comex humanities book and read it, take the questions and study them. Look over any other practice tests you can find (I used Clep offical practice test and Barrons practice tests). Then take the test. I thought the test was easy!!! It was fun too! There again, I'm a Christian and I could feel God's presence as I tried to pray for his help and guidence before each question, so maybe I had an advantage. Not really - he's willing to help anyone who follows Him and simply asks.
That's my 2 cents. Have fun!
Rob
Rob either you work for Clep
Rob either you work for Clep or was paid to say that because i had over 95 percent on the practice hummanites test and I failed horribly. So i dont know what your talking about but please dont put that your a christian on here and lie!
Hey Greyhound - sorry about
Hey Greyhound - sorry about your humanities frustrations. A while back I failed a Clep (which I was foolish enough to think I could pass without any study - don't try that!!), and know it's not fun. Your reply made me honestly chuckle: I don't have anything to do with Clep. I'm just an 18 year old guy enjoying country life in the deep south, while trying to make use of clep in my journey through college. The only study material I had for humanities was the real brief comex review book, so I did a search on the internet for humanities resources and chanced to find this site. It helped me pass and just wanted to share my experience with other.
Now as far as your not being able to comprehend how I could pass the test, keep this in mind. You said that you studied the quizzes here and failed, but never mentioned studying any other study material. Remember, I recommended 3 different materials to pass. I could understand someone with limited background knowledge failing who SOLELY prepared with this site.
I used 1) The 77 page comex review;
2) The quizzes on this site until I got above 90 percent (I didnt study the last one though, the quizz on like film / dance - I practically ignored it because it seems to be somewhat un-christian ;-) )
3) Barrons and College Board practice tests
As I mentioned in the forum, I also used Wikipedia to look up some of the art/literature I encountered in these quizzes that I knew nothing of.
And finally, I'm Christian and try to breath a prayer for help before each question on the Clep. I could feel the power of God in a wonderful way.
As I combined these study helps I was able to easily pass. This cleptestreview site played an integral and crucial role in my success, I felt. I simply want to encourage others who are considering the humanitites clep - it IS very doable, even easy IF you use this site in conjuction with the other steps I listed. I know, because it worked for me, and I in all perspicuity have ZERO background or interest in literature / art. See my comment in the clep test forum for more info on my background. Gotta run, hope that helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
God Bless,
Rob
P.S. Oh by the way, I do want to say that I know of 2 people besides myself that have taken the humanites clep. They both had a very similar background to that of myself, as far as having very little background or prior knowledge in literature / art. Amazingly, they exclusively studied the 77 page comex humanities review, took a few practice tests, and both of them passed (and they did NOT use this website, or any other study materials). Of course I used this site, and got a higher score, but they still passed without it). So this isn't some impossible test that nobody passes.
Oh, one caveat. We did have a slightly different background than most, which could affect our performance, but it's stuff that anyone can do. We're 2nd generation vegans and 7th generation vegetarians. We come from a long line of temperance advocates (avoid alcohol, tobacco, caffeine). We ignore all the distractions that make higher learning and the abundant life difficult - we don't watch TV, never been in a theater, enjoy classical music (listening and playing), etc etc. In addition I'm an athlete - run long distance. So greyhound I suppose that our unusual lifestyle could be a factor contributing to variations in mental aptitude - hey, you could try it out, see if it makes a difference and give me a report. After all, it's a great, exciting and fun way to live.
according to mine experience
I am very much agree with u it is really awesome region but due to my cisco courses I could not visit it more than once.
I really like the content of
I really like the content of this site. It features lots of interesting topics on learning new things for educational upliftment to students. When individuals hear about calculators, they often think of Texas Instruments. Texas Instruments are used across America, and almost anyone who has made it to high school has used one at some point in their life. In a new age of computers and wise phones where everything is now digital, the analog based business is struggling to stay alive.
I found this here: Texas Instruments fighting uphill battles
Sure they are nevertheless making huge amounts of money, but nowhere near where they should be, and where they are expected to be. If this company doesn't come up with something drastic soon, they may be taking out personal loans to survive.
